What We Are
In Search of Root Foundation Inc. is a U.S.–based nonprofit organization dedicated to cultural awareness, community empowerment, and social development. The organization was officially registered in the State of New York on August 18, 2020, during the height of the COVID-19 pandemic—a moment in history when communities across the world faced unprecedented hardship. Later, the foundation received its 501(c)(3) public charity status from the Internal Revenue Service (IRS), giving it federal tax-exempt recognition and affirming its commitment to charitable service and public benefit.
The foundation emerged during the COVID-19 crisis, when families, immigrants, and low-income communities were struggling with unemployment, food insecurity, health risks, and social isolation. In response, we stepped forward to provide critical support at a time when it was needed most. Our work included distributing essential food and hygiene supplies, offering PPE and medical guidance, connecting immigrant households with available services, arranging virtual cultural programs to reduce loneliness, and launching online training sessions to help people rebuild their lives and livelihoods. During this period, we also coordinated a dedicated panel of doctors who provided 24-hour online support and call-in services, helping people access timely medical advice, COVID-19 guidance, and emotional reassurance.
The crisis shaped our identity and strengthened our purpose: to support people in reconnecting with their roots, strengthening their communities, and overcoming challenges with dignity and hope.
Today, In Search of Root Foundation Inc. continues to promote cultural preservation, skill development, and community strengthening efforts. Our initiatives include training programs that empower individuals to grow professionally, support systems for vulnerable communities, and heritage-based activities that help families stay connected to their cultural identity. We also organize B2B meetings, trade fairs, and cross-cultural events that encourage economic opportunity and global collaboration. At the heart of our work is a commitment to serving people, building community pride, and creating sustainable change through education, culture, and service.
